Brian Kinder Nice was born in 1923 (1st qtr 1923 Bury St.Edmunds 4a:1639) son of Thomas Hales and Winifred Audrey NICE (née KINDER)

His father established several cycle shops and garages in East Anglia (the petrol station on Newmarket Road Bury St.Edmunds opposite the Suffolk Regiment Museum being one) and became Mayor of Bury St.Edmunds in 1919. In the 1939 register his parents, brother Gerald and sister Aubrey were at Trelawne, School Lane, Great Barton


Douglas Boston Mk IV, ser no BZ514 of 114 Sqaudron took off from Falconara, Italy at 1930 on armed recce of Verona-Vicenza-Nervesa-Casarsa area. On returning they overshot on landing, crashed into the sea off Falconara 2240. Sgt Flood's,(air gunner) body was recovered and buried in Ancona War Cemetery, F/O Emmett (pilot), F/O Nice (Navigator), and Sgt Culmer (W-Op/Gun) are commemorated on the Malta Memorial
