Charles William Cleveland was born in 1894 in Great Saxham (3rd qtr 1894 Thingoe 4a:731) son of Charles and Ellen CLEVELAND (née BUTTON)

1901 census...Aged 6, he was in Great Saxham with his father Charles CLEVELAND [33] railway porter born Benhall; his mother Ellen [35] born Benhall; brother Frank H [5] and sister Ellen [3]. The children all born in Great Saxham

1911 census...Aged 16, a shepherd's page, he was"Near the White Horse, Great Saxham with his parents (father now farm labourer) and sister Ellen Amelia

On the pension card his mother was at Dean Farm, Hawkedon.



He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds
He died of his wounds at No.21 Casualty Clearing Station, Corbie. The battalion were at Longueval-Delville Wood at the time
