Henry William Cocksedge was born in Sicklesmere (4th qtr 1889 Thingoe 4a:671), son of Fanny COCKSEDGE. She married Harry SEAMAN in 1896

1891 census...Aged 1, he was at Hayward's Cottages, Great Welnetham with his mother Fanny COCKSEDGE [24]; his widowed grandmother Maria COCKSEDGE [60] born Cockfield; uncles George [28] and William [26] COCKSEDGE (both farm labourers); aunt Carrie [18]. His mother and her siblings were all born in Bradfield Combust.

1901 census...Aged 11, he was at 11 Hayward's Cottages, Great Welnetham with his step-father Harry SEAMAN [31] farm machinist born Stanton; his mother Fanny [33] born Bradfield Combust; half sister Florence [4] born Nowton

1911 census...Aged 23, he appears to be a Private (a musician) with the 1st Battalion, Suffolk Regiment in Egypt. His stepfather, mother and half sisters Florence and Dorothy [2] (born Sicklesmere), were at Sicklesmere

On the pension card his mother was in Sicklesmere



He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds.
It seems likely he was one of those who missed being captured at Kut. Awaiting information as to his presence in India later that year.
