Ernest Arthur Copping was born in Wickhambrook (2nd qtr 1893 Risbridge 4a:721) son of George and COPPING(née KEMP)
1901 census...Aged 7, he was at Coltsfoot Green, Wickhambrook with his grandfather John COPPING, [70] tailor; grandmother Mary Ann [56], uncle Harry COPPING [23] farm labourer. Next door were his father George [32] farm labourer; mother Clara [30] sisters Alice [6] and Bertha [4] and brother Charles [8 months]. All were born in Wickhambrook 1911 census...Ernest has not been found in this census. At The Duddery, Wickhambrook were his parents, brother Charles [12] and Fred [10], sisters Nellie [7], Florence [5] and Violet [3]. His mother had lost 2 of her 8 children. On the pension card his father and sister Bertha were at Knowles Green, Hargrave |

10th (County of London) Battalion (Hackney), London Regiment was the only all Territorial Force regiment in the British Army. Kept its title when becoming part of the Rifle Brigade in 1916. The day Ernest was killed was when The Battle of Sharon began on 19 September with a Western Front style bombardment during which two-thirds of the mainly heavy artillery, supported by the firepower of two destroyers shelled Ottoman positions, while one third of the heavy artillery fired creeping barrages to cover the infantry advance.
