Pearman Carpenter was born in 1883 (4th qtr 1883 Mildenhall 4a:677) son of Isaac and Sarah Ann CARPENTER (née STEBBEDS). Somtimes Pearmain.

1891 census...Aged 6, he was at 8 Holywell Row, Mildenhall with his father Isaac CARPENTER[38] farm labourer; his mother Sarah Ann [38]; brothers John W [11] and Jacob [8]. All were born in Mildenhall

1901 census...Aged 17, a farm labourer, he was at Undley Common with his uncle James PAMMENT [52] farmer and aunt Sarah Ann [52]. His parents, brothers John and Jacob, were at Holywell Row.

He married Kate Emily SMITH [11-3-1877] in 1904

1911 census...Aged 27, working on father's farm, he was at Hatch Cottage, Hartest with his wife Kate [34] born Hartest; daughters Phyllis [29-11-1905] born Great Barton and Gladys [7-3-1911] born Hartest. His father died in 1915, mother in 1918

On the pension card his widow was at The Hatch, Hartest before moving to 39 Woodside Road, South Norwood with their two daughters



He enlisted in Sudbury
The battalion was near the western end of the front line, close to the Channel coast. Pearman was the only death in the battalion that day
