1901 census...Aged 9, he was at The Green, Hartest with his father John CLARKE [53] groom born Hawkedon; his mother Marie [40]; sister May A [17]; brothers Fred J [15] stockman, Stephen [12] and Frank [6]. All except his father born in Hartest. 1911 census...Aged 19, Philip was at Churchgate, Hartest with his parents; brother Charles (postman), Frederick and Stephen (labourers) and Frank (baker).
