"Soldiers Died" has him dying of wounds, so, as he is commemorated on the Loos memorial, his body must have been lost in later fighting

The battalion War Diary has :
16 Apr 1917 - After artillery bombardment 'C' and 'A' Coys bombed their way to first objective and consolidated. Bn on our left failed to reach this and retired on former position. Both 'C' and 'A' Coys flank were in the air, but despite this and enemy bombing attacks they maintained all ground gained. Casualties 2 OR killed & 17 wounded.

In fact CWGC have 6 OR killed, 3 named on the Loos memorial and 3 buried in Mazingarbe
