Cecil WEBB was born in Haverhill (Risbridge Q1-1893 4A:726), son of George Green and Ada WEBB (née PLUMB).

1901 census...Aged 8, he was at 2 Chauntry Place, Haverhill with his father George WEBB [29] journeyman baker; his mother Ada [29]; sister Edith [9]; brothers Bertie [4] and Herbert [1]. All were Haverhill born.

1911 census... Aged 18, bookstall newsboy, he was at 62 Mill Road, Haverhill with his parents; sisters Edith (domestic nurse) and Annie C [8] and Freda L [3]; brothers Bertie (warehouseman at factory) and Herbert.





He enlisted in Haverhill.

His Battalion were part of 190th Brigade, 63rd (Royal Naval) Division. Starting out from Ploegsteert Wood they were attacking due east of Deulemont, the area centred between the D108 and D308.

CWGC record 81 of the battalion killed on 30th October, only five having an identified grave, the rest are all commemorated on the Tyne Cot memorial
