Daniel Thomas Mason was born 1885 in Hawkedon (4th qtr 1885 Sudbury 4a:642) son of Daniel and Sarah MASON (née WILBY)
1891 census...Aged 5, he was in Hawkedon with his father Daniel MASON [52] farm labourer; his mother Sarah [50]; brothers William [15] farm labourer, Charles [10] and Joe [7]; sister Sarah A [13]. All were born in Hawkedon 1901 census...Aged 15, he was at The Green, Hawkedon with his parents and brother Joe. All the men were farm labourers. 1911 census...Aged 25, a Metropolitan Police constable, he was boarding at 8 Manor Place, Amhurst Road, Hackney. His widowed mother was still at The Green, Hawkedon, his father had died in 1901. His mother died on 30th July 1917 No pension card has been found as both his parents had died. His brother Joe was killed on 7th June 1917, in France, serving in the London Regiment. see here |
