Walter Boreham was born in Horringer (3rd qtr 1882 Thingoe 4a:609), son of John and Susan BOREHAM (née FULLER). Baptised in St.Leonard's Horringer on 3rd February 1883

1891 census...Aged8, he was at The Street, Horringer with his father John BOREHAM [48] farm labourer; his mother Susan [47] born Barrow; half brother George FULLER [21] shepherd born Barrow); brothers Harry [18] and Robert [13] both farm labourers, Frederick [11], James [10], Bertie [6] and Sidney [1]; sisters Rose [15], Lizzie [6] and Amy [3]. All the children except George were born in Horringer.

1901 census...Aged 18, a gardener, he was at the Gardener's Bothy at Ickworth Hall. His parents were at the Street still with his brothers Robert (park labourer), Frederick (bricklayer's labourer), James (gardener's labourer), Bertie (farm labourer) and Sidney; sisters Lizzie and Amy.

1911 census...Not found in this census and his Army numbers do not indicate being in the Army. His parents were still in Horringer His mother had lost 2 of her 11 children.

He married Alice BROWN [17-9-1889] in Ringwood Hants in 1916. On the pension card his widow was at 147 Crowe, Ringwood, Hants. In 1920 she married George IVEMY


He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds.
The battalion was supplying working parties near Clery sur Somme. Originally buried near Clery, he was re-interred in Peronne in August 1919
