Albert Edward Chaplin was born on 28th February 1912 at Darmsden, nr Needham Market Suffolk (1st qtr 1912 Bosmere 4a:1928) son of Herbert and Ellen Elizabeth CHAPLIN (née AVIS). He married Joan G BONNEY in Bury St.Edmunds in 1941. CWGC have her as a S.R.N, living in Horringer. Not yet identified any of them in the 1939 register.


The Honourable Artillery Company is the oldest corps(1537) in the British Army, second oldest in the world. Multi-badged, the 2 shown here are the forage cap (a version of the Royal Artillery badge) and the beret badge The war diary is not online, but the H.A.C were part of the 8th Army in North Africa and in November 1942 were at the battle of El Alamein
