William John Farrow was born in Lawshll (3rd qtr 1896 Sudbury 4a:760) son of Joseph and Caroline FARROW (née MINGAY)

1901 census...Aged 4, he was at Lambs Lane, Lawshall with his father Joseph FARROW [33] farm labourer; his mother Caroline [36] born Stanningfield; brothers Bertie [10], Leonard [7] and Frank E [2]. All except his mother were born in Lawshall.

1911 census...Aged 14, a farm labourer, he was at Bury Road, Lawshall with his parents; brother Bertie Joseph and Leonard(both farm labourers)Frank Edmund and Cuthbert Augustine [9]; sister Mary Agatha [6].

On the pension card his mother was at Carpenters Row, Lawshall.



He enlisted in Sudbury. He did not have long enough service for a war gratuity. The 10th Battalion was used for training and coastal defence duties and was in Colchester in March 1916. It never went overseas.
Apparently taken ill during training. He died at the Infection Hospital, Colchester from cerebro spinal meningitis, a farm labourer serving in the 10th Suffolks.
