Frederick Howe was born in Lawshall (1st qtr 1896 Sudbury 4a:750) son of John Dent and Georgina Alice HOWE (née GOOCH)

1901 census...Aged 5, he was "near Turnpike", Lawshall with his father John Dent HOWE [32]farm labourer; his mother Georgina [32] born Bradfield St.George; sisters Elsie [9] and Alice [3]. All except is mother were born in Lawshall.

1911 census...Aged 15, farm worker, he was at Hibb's Green.Lawshall with his parents; sisters Grace [8], Alice [3] and Doris [1 month]; brother Jack [1]. His mother had lost 3 of her 9 children

On the pension card his parents were at The Green, Lawshall.



He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds
War Diary:-
25th..At 5:56 the Bn made a sham gas attack by throwing smoke bombs. The effect was excellent but brought on heavy shelling, especially on B Boy which was in the centre...Fine day...Lt FORSTER severely wounded by shell fire Other ranks 4 killed 21 wounded.
