Percy Cornelius Rose was born in Lawshall (1st qtr 1894 Sudbury 4a:762)) son of Henry and Frances ROSE (née HAMMOND)

1901 census...Aged 7, he was at Hibb's Green, Lawshall with his father Henry ROSE [43] farm labourer; his mother Frances [43] born Shimpling; sisters Beatrice [16] and Florence [5]; brothers Maurice E [12], Harry A [9] and Donald S [3]. All except his mother were born in Lawshall.

1911 census...Aged 17, he was at Hanningfield Green, Lawshall with his parents; sister Beatrice; brothers Harry and Donald.

On the pension card his mother was at Hibb's Green, Lawshall.



He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds
The battalion had just taken MALAKOF FARM in the vicinity of Hargicourt in wretched weather.and was consolidating. The yellow circle is the area of Malakof Farm and Malakof Trench. Percy was one of three to die in the battalion that day





The medal card has his date of death wrong.


Percy Rose is buried in Hargicourt British Cemetery, France 1:C:27
