Sargeant Talbott was born in Lawshall (1st qtr 1900 Sudbury 4a:896) son of Edward and Julia TALBOTT (née BELVERSTONE)

1901 census...Aged 1, he was at Wallaker's Farm, Lawshall with his father Edward C TALBOTT [53] farm labourer born Castle Acre; his mother Julia [45] born Dalham; sister Alice [8]; brothers Charles [17] horseman, Benjamin [15] stockman, Alfred [6] and Ernest [4]. All the children were born in Lawshall.

1911 census...Aged 11, he was at Cooper's Farm, Lawshall with his parents; brothers Thomas [21] and Ernest (both farm labourers; sister Anne [9]

On the pension card his mother was at Cooper's Farm, Lawshall.



He enlisted in Ipswich
On 1st.2nd November the battalion were advancing east, and had passed through Preseau when a counter attack forced them to withdraw through Preseau. They consolidated to the west of Preseau,on a ridge (the green line below)
