WEBLING, Paul Francis

No.1134366, Corporal, Paul Francis WEBLING
Aged 31

Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve
Died of Illness on Sunday, 24th January 1943

Paul Francis Webling was born in 1911 in Portsmouth (Portsmouth Q3-1911 2B:869), son of Rev. Archibald Frederick and Dora H.WEBLING (née AYLEN).

At Risby Rectory in the 1939 register were his father Archie F [[15-6-1876] clerk in Holy Order; his mother Dora [4]5]1881]; sister Diana H [8-2-1910] art student and Richard J Jones [3-7-1884] married head teacher LCC Elementary school (quite possibly accompanying evacuee children)

He married Joan ALLISON (Bury St.Edmunds Q3-1939 4A:4803), living at 5 White Hart Street, Thetford in 1943.

His father was the author in 1945 of a book "Risby" with drawings by A.T.Beeson, also "The Two Brothers" in which explains his psychic communications with his dead sons, Paul and his twin brother Philip (who had died as an infant). Canon Webling was rector at St Giles, Risby from 1926 to 1950, which explains Paul's name on the memorial.

He was stationed, as groundcrew, at R.A.F.Takali, Malta. It seems he contracted Infantile Paralysis and admitted to hospital on 19th January, dying on the 24th. There was serious epidemic in Malta at the time.
