1891 census...Aged 3, he was at Leiston with his father Anthony John GREEN, [32] carpenter, born Australia; his mother Annie [32] born Wickham Market; brothers Frederick [9] born Yoxford and Campbell William [5] born Leiston; sisters Ethel May [8] born Ipswich and Mabel E [7] born Leiston. Sizewell or Leiston, seem to be interchangeable. Family records have their address as Woodbine Cottage, Sizewell, Leiston. . 1901 census...Aged he was at Squires Cottages, Buckendon, Herts with his parents; sisters Ethel, Mabel and Violet [11] born Sizewell, Adelaide [3]born Hertford and Winifred [1] born Hertford; brothers Campbell, Reginald [9] born Sizewell, Austin [7] born Sizewell and Percy [6] born Saxmundham. 1911 census...Aged 22, a grocer's assistant, he was at Seward's Cottages, Buckendon with his parents; sisters Ethel Mary (lady's maid), Mabel Edith, Violet Mildred (school teacher), Adelaide Vie [sic] Beatrice [13], Winifred Hilda Evelyn [11] and Gladys Eleanor Dorothy [9] born Buckendon; brothers Campbell (gardener), Reginald Walter (gardener), Arthur Dudley (apprentice gardener) and Percy Anthony (gardener). His mother had lost one of her 12 children. The pension card has his mother at Wood Cottage, Rougham and later his father at Rose Cottage, Rougham |

He enlisted in Bury St. Edmunds.
The war diary :- On the 12th march 1917 "Z" Company and Battn bombers under Capt Leatham carried out a raid on the brickfields N of Beaurains. O.O. report and messages for Corps Commander attached The report is too extensive to copy here, but the raid was successful in ascertaining the enemy's condition and regiment. All Germans encountered above ground were killed. All bunkers where the enemy refused to come out when ordered were blown up. Casualties:- 2 officers wounded, ORs 10 killed, 24 wounded 14 missing. Casualties were heavy due to bad weather causing heavy going, enemy expecting raid, and wire not properly cut and our artillery barrage had not neutralised flanking strongpoints.
