1891 census...Aged 4, he was at Bunkers Hill, Shimpling with his father Daniel SYMONDS [31] farm labourer; his mother Emma [29] born Lawshall; brothers Harry [7] and Walter [3]. 1901 census...Aged 14, he was boarding at Downings Farm, Shimpling with his uncle John SYMONDS [48] farmer born Shimpling; wife Hannah [46] born Alpheton. His parents were at Greentrees, Shimpling with his brother Frederick [9]; sisters Laura E [5], Maud [2] and Mary A [3 months]. 1911 census...Aged 24, he was boarding at Station View, Outwood, Wakefield with the VINTER family. His parents were still at Greentrees with his brother Frederick; sisters Maud [12] and Lily [6]. His mother had lost 2 of her 6 children |

Little has been found of his military involvement. He appears to have died during training and thus has no medals. Clipstone Camp was a military training camp that was built just over two miles from Forest Town.
