Reginald Charles Wesley was born on 29th August 1916 (Risbridge Q4-1920 4A:1630), son of Charles William and Alice Amelia WESLEY (née NOTLEY) In 1939 his father [21-5-1895] was a grocer, at Enterprise Stores, Steeple Bumpstead, with his mother [27-6-1892] and sister Brenda Mildred [4-3-1926] (three closed records). He had a brother, Sidney J Wesley, and there was another sister, Olive. Sadly Brenda died from mumps, age 15.


He was killed during the fighting on the island of Singapore, just 9 days before the surrender to the Japanese, only one week after arriving in Singapore.

From their regimental number James Wesley (5828507)-Leslie Tarling (5828512)-Reginald Wesley (5828518) and Leslie Ling (5828526) must have been mobilised in the 5th Suffolks at the same time. Initially buried in the Reformatory Road ( now Clementi Road) Military Cemetery, he was moved to Kranji in July 19146.
