George WALLISS was born in Stetchworth (3rd qtr 1871 Newmarket 3b:517() son of Alfred and Adelaide WALLIS (née JAGGARD).

1881 census...Aged 9, he was at Mill Road Cottages, Stetchworth with his father Alfred WALLIS [33] farm labourer born Lackford; his mother Adelaide [32] born Stetchworth: brothers James [11] born Stetchworth and William [7] born Leeds; sister Maggie [2 months] born Stetchworth; grandmother Elizabeth JAGGARD [68] born Dullingham. brother James

1891 census...Aged 19 he was in the 1st Battalion, Northumberlad Fusiliers at Cambridge Barracks, Woolwich Dockyard. His parents and sister Maggie were still at Mill Road, Stetchworth

He was killed in the fighting at Modder River


His Queens South Africa medal carries the clasps for Belmont and Modder River
