George Kenneth Matthews was born in Bury St.Edmunds (3rd qtr 1925 Bury St.Edmunds 4a:1567) son of Arthur James and Lilian MATTHEWS (née CARISS)

In the 1939 register, at 76 Newmarket Road, Bury St.Edmunds were father Arthur J [4-12-1889] a golf professional; his mother Lily [8-3-1890] and brother Cyril [19-9-1920] (a railway clerk/ special constable), brother Roger D [14-5-1923] a fitter's mate. There are two closed records (sister Louis would be one, she died in Australia in 2013). It is not known where George was.

His brother Cyril James was killed on a 1,000 bomber raid on Germany see here


He died while swimming in Mill Hill public swimming baths.
