Oliver Edward WORMELL was born in Weston Colville in 1884 (Linton Q4-1884 3B:524), son of William Bailey and Sarah WORMELL(née TOMLINSON).

1891 census...Aged 6, he was at School House, Weston Colville with his father William B WORMELL [51] school master born Buckminster, Leicester; mother Sarah [51] schoolmistress born Burnley, Lancashire; sisters Bessie E [17] and Amy B [10]; brothers George H [14], Charles Octavius Richard [12]and Robert L [8]. All the children were born in Weston Colville.

1901 census...Aged 16, a farmer's clerk, he was at Church Farm with his parents (father now an Estate Agent); sisters Catherine Louisa [29] born Barmston , Yorkshire, Bessie Eleanor and Amy Beatrice. The three sisters were all school teachers.

1911 census...Aged 26, single, (the family name has changed to WORMALD), he was head of household at Church Farm, Weston Colville with his three sisters, Catherine, Bessie and Amy. Their parents had both died in Weston Colville in Q4-1906.

In 1916 he married Frances Ella BOGGIS (Q3-Linton). Her address after his death, from his medal index card, was Carlton Grange, near Brinkley.


Oliver died at the V.A.D. Hospital, Brickett House, St Albans. Probate was to his widow Frances Ella and his brother Rev. Charles Octavius Richard Wormald. So far the cause of death has not been found.
