John Everett was born in Withersfield (Risbridge Q3-1890 4A:649), baptised on 31st August 1890 in St Mary the Virgin, Withersfield, son of Walter and Catherine Julia EVERETT (née DOCKEREL).

His mother died in Q1-1897 in Withersfield and his father married Eliza LOVEDAY (Q2-1897)

1891 census...Aged 8 months, he was at Withersfield with his father Walter EVERETT [36] farm labourer, born Haverhill; his mother Julia [34]; sisters Agnes [4] and Alice [3]. All except his father were born in Withersfield

1901 census...Aged 11, he was at Queen Street, Withersfield with his father, stepmother Eliza [49] born West Wratting; sister Alice and brother Arthur [6] born Withersfield.

1911 census...He is believed to be the John Everett, aged 19, farm servant at Westland Farm, Glentworth, Lincolnshire (George STROWSON, farmer, and family). His father and step mother were still at Queen Street, Withersfield.

His brother Arthur served with the Royal Field Artillery (No.84570) from 1915, was in France and then Salonika, survived the war and settled in Eastbourne with his wife. In 1933 she was asking the Army for Arthur's address on enlistment as he had just died and she need that address for pension purposes.


It has so far been impossible to identify him in the Military.
