James Arthur POXON was born on 9th October 1913 (Shardlow Q4-1913 7B:1011), son of Harold Adkin and Annie Mary POXON (née HIGGINS). He had a brother, Harold Raye POXON

In the 1939 register, he was as grocery shop assistant at 25 Bondgate, Castle Donington with his father Harold A [11-10-1889] a fruit grower and his mother Annie M. [30-3-1886]. There are two closed records.


The war diary has not yet been checked but the battalion had 11 killed that day, buried in either Bologna or Faenza.

The Bury Free Press of 15th December 1944 reported that he was missing

James Poxon is buried in Bologna War Cemetery, grave 4:C:9
and commemorated at Castle Donington.
