Charles William Alfred Bullass was born in Horringer (3rd qtr 1891 Thingoe 4a:7312) son of Charles and Ellen Hannah BULLASS (née LUMLEY).
1901 census...Aged 9, he was at Stow Lane, Ixworth where his mother Ellen BULLASS [33] widow, born Hackney, was house keeper for William Howe, farm labourer [54] born Ixworth. Also there was Charles' brother John[6] born Nayland. His father had died in 1899 1911 census...Aged 19, he was at Stowmarket Road, Ixworth with his mother, brother John and a boarder, Tom Plummer [46] born Ixworth. All the men ware farm labourers. His mother had lost 3 of her 5 children. He married Elizabeth Payne GASKIN [30-6-1888] at St Peter and St Paul's Grays Thurrock on 27th December 1913. Their children were Alfred Charles [24-3-1914], Gwendoline Phyllis [23-11-1915] and Ellen Jane [9-7-1917] On the pension card his widow was at High Street, Ixworth, later moving to Commister Lane His nephew Douglas Bullass died in 1946, ater serving in the Royal Engineers see here |
