Douglas Alfred Bullass was born on 28th June 1924 in Ixworth (3rd qtr 1924 Bury St.Edmunds 4a:1544) son of John and Bessie May BULLASS (née CROSBY).

In the 1939 register his parents, father a road labourer, born 14-4-1894 and his mother born 26-1-1893 were at Stow lane, Ixworth. Douglas, although not in the Forces, has not been found in the register.



His uncle Charles Bullass died in France in 1918 see here


Enlisted on 3rd December 1942 He was in the Middle East and evacuated to UK and admitted to Leicester Royal Infirmary on 26th February 1945 with Ulcers in left eye. trnsferred to SAddenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge on 12 March. 19th July 1945 admitted to Military Hospital at Catterick with conjunctivitisand transfferredto Myton Hall BRCS Helperby Yorks 24th August. Transferred from there on 8th September to Rec.Centre, Halifax.

Unable to find where he served overseas, or when

He died of a) Toxaemia b) acute septic tonsitilis and peritpnsillar abcess at West Suffolk General Hospital.
