Thomas Moss was born in Lawshall (4th qtr 1893 Sudbury 4a:702) son of Levi and Emma MOSS (née BETTS)

1901 census...Aged 7, he was at Donkey Lane, Lawshall with his parents; brothers Harry and Walter, both farm labourers, Frederick and Charles; sister Emma.

1911 census...Aged 17, he was "near the King William", Lawshall with his parents and brothers William, Harry, Frederick and Charles. All the men were farm labourers. His mother had all 10 children living.

On the pension card his father was in Lawshall.

His brother Charles was killed in 1916, serving in the Machine Gun Corps. see here


He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds
They were holding the line near Ascension Wood, E of Peronne, NW of St Quentin. Thomas was the only one form the battalion to die that day.
