Harry Edward Cccksedge was born in Cockfield (3rd qtr 1886 Cosford 4a:661), son of William James and Clara COCKSEDGE (née GRIDLEY).
Baptised at St. Peter's Cockfield on 31st October 1886.
1891 census...Aged 4, he was at Great Green, Cockfield with his father William COCKSEDGE [30] farm labourer; his mother Clara [28] born London; brothers William [8], Frederick [2] and Sidney [2 months]. All except his mother were born in Cockfield. His father died in 1895 and his mother married Robert Ephraim LOCKWOOD in 1899. 1901 census...Aged 14, he was at Great Green, Cockfield with his stepfather Robert LOCKWOOD [24] horseman born Mendlesham; his mother; brothers William [farm labourer], Frederick, and Walter [6]; half-sister Ada LOCKWOOD [6 months]. 1911 census...Harry was not found in this census, but it seems more than likely he was already in the Army. His stepfather and mother were at Great Green, Cockfield with his sister Violet; brothers William and Walter; half-sisters Ida [sic], twins Lily and Daisy [6]; cousin Dudley HOWARD [3] born Thorpe He married Daisy Minnie HARPER [21-8-1890] in 1914. He enlisted in Bury St. Edmunds. The 121st Brigade were at Equancourt on 15th September.
