Lionel Thomas Crack was born in Horringer (1st qtr 1890 Thingoe 4a:744) son of John Cuthbert and Caroline CRACK (née BOLLINGBROKE). Baptised in St. Leonard's, Horringer on 23rd March 1890.

1891 census...Aged 1, he was at The Street, Horringer with his father John CRACK [39] farm labourer; mother Caroline [37]; sisters Eva []12], Flora [10], Annie [7] and Kate [2]; brothers Edward [6] and Edgar [4]. All were born in Horringer.

1901 census...Aged 11, he was still at The Street, Horringer with his parents; sister Kate, brothers Edward (gas fitter), Edgar, Oliver [7] and Albert [4].

1911 census...Aged 22, he was a footman at 100 Eaton Place, London. His parents were still in Horringer with his sister Kate. His mother had lost 2 of her 11 children



His brother Edward died in India in 1917 see here and his brother Oliver died in 1918 see here


He enlisted in Westminster whilst resident in London.
Having made a successful raid on 26th in the Zonnebeke region, the Battalion repulsed a counter-attack in 27th and suffered a heavy hostile bombardment.
