Frank Sydney Foreman was born in Thurston (1st qtr 1895 Stow 4a:844) son of Charles and Maria Elizabeth FOREMAN (née CALLAS)

1901 census...Aged 6, he was at Grimstone Road, Pakenham with his father Charles FOREMAN [48] rough carpenter on estate; his mother Maria [42] born Gt Livermere; sister Ettie [13]; brothers Harry [18] horseman, Percy [15] farm labourer and Archie[9]; sister in law Jane FOREMAN [22]. All except Frank and his mother were born in Pakenham.

1911 census...Aged 16, a farm labourer, he was at The Fen, Pakenham with his parents and brother Percy (farm labourer). His mother had lost 4 of her 12 children.

On 14th July 1914, in Pakenham, he married Bardina May COCKSEDGE. Their son, Leonard Charles, was born in Pakenham on 15th November 1914.

On the pension card his widow was at c/o Mrs Cocksedge, 3 St.Mary's Place, Bury St. Edmunds.

He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds on 17th January 1915, giving his age as 21 years, a shepherd's help, from The Fen, Pakenham.
He joined the 9th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment at Brighton on 20th January. Discharged as no longer physically fit for war service on 14th December 1916. On discharge he was 5 feet 7 inches tall, chest 32.5 to 35 inches, weighed 120 lbs, blue eyes, light brown hair. Intended address, The Fen, Pakenham. He had served in France and Belgium from 31st May 1915 to 1st October 1916. He had tuberculosis, worsening considerably during his military service, and was deemed unable to perform military duties or work as a civilian.
He died in UK, presumably at home in Pakenham, but possibly at the Sanitorium in Bury St. Edmunds.




Frank Foreman is buried in Pakenham (St Mary's) Churchyard, west of the Church
