Born in Bury St.Edmunds in 1880 (3rd qtr 4a:596) son of George and Frances Mary FORD (née GARWOOD)

1881 census...Aged 8 months, he was at the barracks, Bury St Edmunds with his father George FORD [40] Private 12th Regt of Foot, born Ripe, Sussex; his mother Frances Mary [23] born Little Saxham.

1891 census...Aged 10, he was at 54 Whiting Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his parents; brothers Percy R [8] born Bury St.Edmunds, William A [6], Arthur E [4] and Charles L [1] ll born in Little Saxham.

1901 census...Aged 20, he was at Alverstoke, a private in the Rifle Brigade. At 36 Church Walk, Bury St.Edmunds were his parents; brothers Percy(labourer), Arthur, Herbert [5] and Sidney [9] both born Bury St.Edmunds.

1911 census...Aged 30, he was not found in this census, most likely in India with the Rifle Brigade. At Lambert Place, Bury St.Edmunds were his parents; brothers Herbert, Charles and Sidney and Arthur ( last 3 all labourers). His mother had lost one of her 7 children (Percy had died in 1909). Five sons were to die in the war, Arthur, Sidney, Herbert, George and William.
